Day One, Take Three

[sigh]

Still in the closet. Started gender affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) in August 2020. It was great. I noticed some great changes. I was on hormones for just over a year. But I never came out of the closet.

And I quit hormones in October 2021.

Last summer, I started the process to get back on GAHT in July. There were phone appointments. Labs were ordered and completed. And then the mental health providers at my HMO went on strike before I could have my final appointment and get prescriptions. And then I changed insurance because I had changed jobs.

So, in October 2022, I started again through Plume. Still in the closet. And the end of 2022 was a parade of depressing episodes and emergencies. I quit GAHT again.

Just a few days ago in April 2023, I made an appointment with Planned Parenthood. Now, I’m back on GAHT as of today. And still in the closet.

I hope I stick with it this time. And hope that finally I have the conviction to come out of the closet and live as my authentic self.
