Girville Dispatches: Trading the Dashboard for the Dance Floor Part 3 — T Minus 24 Hours

Tick. Tock.

Friday at 5:00 PM in a Chicago summer is magic. But on this particular Friday? Clocking out couldn’t happen fast enough. The seconds crawled. The moment I logged off, I bolted to the Clark/Lake station, my heart already racing faster than my feet. I felt a surge of pure relief when the Blue Line train pulled in to whisk me back to Bucktown.

Blue Line to Girlville

The transit stops dripped by tediously, each one a minor delay keeping me from myself. When I finally hit the Western platform, I power-walked home, completely numb to the thick, humid air and the suffocating corporate suit sticking to my skin.

My mind was entirely consumed by tomorrow night. And Greg.

We had been playfully, disruptively texting since Wednesday evening, and the digital friction had built a fire in my thoughts all day.

Shedding the Shell

The second my front door clicked shut, the deconstruction began. I needed out of the manly corporate shell immediately. I shed my boy clothes on the move, dropping pieces with every step.

By the time I hit the stairs, I was down to suit pants and socks. Reaching the air-conditioned sanctuary of my bedroom, the last remnants of man mode hit the floor.

I stood there, finally breathing, stripped down to the pink panties I’d hidden beneath my masculine exterior all day.

My body was smooth and hairless, but my mind was still vibrating with nervous energy. I needed a run to process the anticipation.

The Ritual of Transformation

Going for a run as Kimberly isn’t a simple workout; it is a meticulous transformation. Every step of my makeup routine felt deliberate tonight, a slow-burn preparation for the woman I would be tomorrow:

  • The Foundation: Primer, color corrector to erase the five o’clock shadow, concealer, and foundation. Building the canvas.
  • The Focus: Sharpening my eyebrows, tracing tight eyeliner, a sweep of eyeshadow, and waterproof mascara.
  • The Finish: A pop of blush, lined lips, lipstick, and a heavy lockdown of setting powder and spray.

All that effort just to go sweat in 85-degree humidity. But tonight, the routine felt sacred.

It’s not easy being a trans woman, but so worth it!

Slipped Gates and Shared Desires

I pulled on my pink running shirt, knocked back a glass of water, and did a few perfunctory stretches. Ready.

But Kimberly doesn’t just walk out the front door. The neighbors don’t know her. Instead, I carefully surveyed my small backyard, made sure the coast was clear, and bolted through the back gate into the alleyway.

I charted my course east toward the Lake, cutting past Holstein Park. The public pool was an oasis of splashing water, the concrete decks crowded with sunbathers. Looking at the cisgender women lounging there usually triggers a sharp, familiar wave of envy. Tonight, though? The sting was entirely softened by the sheer excitement of what tomorrow held. I had my own feminine power to look forward to.

The run was pure medicine. Nine miles of blissful, rhythmic stress relief along the cooling expanse of the Lakefront Path, with Lake Michigan whispering beside me. Every stride was a countdown as my thoughts drifted to Greg, and my imagination ran different versions of tomorrow night into my mind’s eye.

Back home, I traded sweat for a hot shower, ate a light dinner, and let my brain rest in front of the TV until it was time for bed. Then came the ultimate wind-down ritual: a cooling collagen night mask and a copy of Cosmo.

I flipped through the glossy pages until a headline practically jumped out at me: “The Whispered Touch: Bedroom Tricks to Drive Your Man Insane.”

Highly topical. I leaned back against my pillows and began to read.

Duly noted.

As I scanned the column, I couldn’t help but smile at my own unique perspective. Reading a sex-and-relationship magazine with the reality of my own anatomy gives me an insight the average woman surely lacks. I know exactly how the male mind —and body — operates, but tonight, I was studying how to unravel it from the other side of the equation. Honestly? Kudos to the staff at Cosmo. Their advice on the psychological art of teasing—of lingering just a second too long on a sensitive spot, of using eye contact to completely paralyze a man—was entirely on point.

The text left me giddy, electric, and deeply, undeniably aroused. My imagination ran wild, superimposing Greg into every sentence. I could almost feel his hands on my waist and moving up my thigh, picking up right where he left off on Wednesday night.

The heat in my bedroom suddenly felt a lot like that 85-degree humidity outside. My hand drifted toward my bedside drawer, my fingers hovering over the handle, highly tempted to slide it open, grab a toy, and take the desperate edge off the ache.

I forced my hand back to my side. No. Behave.

The tension, the buildup, the exquisite torture of waiting—it is all fuel for tomorrow night. I want to be a coiled spring when I finally see him. Every ounce of restraint tonight is just an investment in a much more explosive tomorrow.

I just hope Greg is ready to handle the woman he’s been texting all week.
